The Skinny Brief: Class Reminder and Spicing Up Your Workout With Cardio

Just a reminder that there will be no classes this week.  Classes will resume on June 23rd.

This week, I’m vacationing in the mountains and finding lots of new ways to get fit with my family.  We’re biking, hiking, walking, and even playing tennis.  I’ve also gone sailing and have been sunning; it’s great!

Please consider this:  “Round Out Your Workouts with Cardio.”

As amazing as Pilates is, to get into your Skinny Jeans, you need to balance it with cardio work and healthy eating.

Though Pilates and are free weights sculpt your body, you will want to do cardio too.

The heart is the most important muscle in the body.  No one dies of weak triceps, so be sure to include a 20 minute cardio workout into your weekly routine.

A few outdoor ideas include walking, swimming, cycling, running and jumping rope.  Or, if you prefer to workout at the gym, consider using the rowing machine, elyptical machine, stationary cylcle or just walk on the treadmill.

Also, consider alternating walking with running to get your heart rate up.  Feel free to mix things up, i.e., walk some days, swim on others.  The key is get out there and get your blood flowing.  You’ll feel great as you release endorphins that will make everything look better.
Let me know what type of cardio you are incorporating into your week.  See you the week of the 23rd!  Get Busy : )
Breathe,
Nancy Griffin
